US firm to invest Rs 300 crore to set up operations in Hyderabad

The company manufactures ladders and has potential to create 1000 jobs

Hyderabad: The United States-based Wing Enterprises, the producer of the Little Giant Ladder System, has offered to invest over Rs 300 crore for setting up operations in Hyderabad.

A delegation from the company met Telangana information technology minister K.T. Rama Rao at the Secretariat on Friday and expressed their willingness to set up a manufacturing facility near Medchal, on the city outskirts.

Founded by Harold R. Wing, the US company makes various kinds of ladders.

It also offers accessories like air deck work stations, cargo-hold products and fuel tank paint trays.

“They are not expecting much from the government. They just sought government’s help to identify a suitable location for the plant. The company has offered to generate nearly 1,000 jobs,” Mr Rao said.

Mr Rao said the establishment of the ladder manufacturing facility here indicated that investments were flowing into Hyderabad, not just in the IT sector, but also in other segments.

He said the TRS government will encourage the IT sector and soon come out with a new industrial policy for the purpose.
