‘Ulavacharu Biryani, a great experience’

Kannada film actress makes her debut in Tollywood with Ulavacharu Biryani

Hyderabad: She might be a known face in the Kanada film industry, but, Prakash Raj’s Ulavacharu Biryani, will see actress Samyukta Hornad debut in the Telugu film industry opposite newcomer Tejus.
Samyukta, who has acted in a few Kannada films earlier, says that her family has been associated with the film industry for long.
Her grandparents were theatre artistes while her mother is a Kannada actress. Her father M.G. Sathya had written the script for Shah Rukh Khan’s film Swades.

In Ulavacharu Biryani, she plays Meghana, who is just out of college and is looking for a job. Apart from her and Tejus, Prakash Raj and Sneha are the other pair in the film.
“Working with Prakash Raj was a learning experience. He loves all aspects of cinema and has great command over all the crafts of cinema. He is very passionate about the film and he knew exactly what he wanted from the artistes,” says Samyukta.

She says that she has been lucky to have worked with professionals like Sneha, Urvasi and others. “It wasn’t just acting, I learnt many things from them.”
About debutant Tejus, she says, “We had to do a lot of rehearsals before the scenes. Tejus can read Telugu easily while for me Kannada is easy. So we helped each other out. For Tamil we would get help from others,” she says.

Acting in a tri-lingual film is much more challenging, feels Samyukta. “It was a little difficult initially, but by the end of the schedule everyone was co-operative; we never faced any problems because of the team,” she says.

“Since we were doing the same thing thrice in three languages, we had to improvise our acting and thus would never feel the stress,” she says, adding that the other actors and the costumes were different for the three languages and that made it more interesting.

Samyukta started acting at the age of six in theatre with her grandmum.

“I am looking forward to the reaction for my Telugu and I am quite excited. I would like to act in more Telugu films,” says Samyukta and adds that she has not signed any Kannada films either as she is waiting for the film’s release in Kannada too.
