Hyderabad: The suspense is over after months of speculation — Allu Arjun will play the key character of Gona Gannareddy in director Gunasekhar’s upcoming historical film Rudramadevi. On Saturday morning, at a press conference, the director confirmed that Allu Arjun had agreed to play the character as soon as he was approached. The director had approached Mahesh Babu and others and mulled over the decision for months. Well, it is final now, and it will be Allu Arjun.
“In this historical film, Gona Gannareddy’s character is very important. He is a Robin Hood kind of dacoit and he fights against Rudramadevi. With Allu Arjun, the film gains stature and gives the project an added advantage,” says Gunasekhar. Allu Arjun is being trained in horse-riding and sword-fighting for the film. Catherine Tresa is playing Annamadevi opposite Allu Arjun. “Most of Arjun’s scenes will be shot in July and the film will be completed by the end of July,” says Gunasekhar.
