The resolution was passed by TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu

Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam passed an unanimous resolution in the Mahanadu, requesting the Centre to confer Bharat Ratna on former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TD founder president late N.T. Rama Rao. The resolution was passed by TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu and supported by the party delegates and worker unanimously.

Coincidentally Wednesday was the 92nd birth anniversary of NT.R. Mr Naidu said he would speak to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this issue and also hand over to him the Mahanadu resolution. The TD chief said Bharat Ratna for NTR was long overdue and the wish of every Telugu speaking citizen.

Earlier TDP cultural wing president Saibaba in his speech requested Chandrababu to ensure that the honour be bestowed on late NTR at the earliest. Chandrababu said that when the TDP was in power the state government named the airport Shamshabad after NTR, but the Congress government changed the name to Rajeev Gandhi International airport.

He said that he would speak to Centre to change the name to honour NTR. Since the civil aviation minister P Ashok Gajapati Raju belonged to TDP there will be no problem to changing the name of airport. Chandrababu and other party leaders paid tributes to NTR at NTR Ghat earlier in the morning.
