Bengaluru: The Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) officials have picked up a man from Bengaluru on Thursday in connection with the twin blasts that happened in the Bangalore-Guwahati Express in Chennai on May 1. The man was picked up from Gouripalaya near Chandra Layout for questioning as the sleuths suspect that he was in touch with some activists of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), who were allegedly behind the blasts that rocked Chennai Central Railway Station.
Sources said that from the arrested person, the ATS sleuths have got leads about the alleged involvement of SIMI activists, based in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, in the twin blasts and further investigations were on. The bombs in the S5 and S6 coaches of the Bangalore-Guwahati Express went off shortly after the train had arrived at Chennai Central Station around 7.15 am. The twin blasts killed a woman and left 14 injured.
