Hyderabad: The CPI wants the new Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments to lift ban on Maoists. The CPI State Executive Committee, which met here on Wednesday, passed a resolution in this regard asking both the yet-to-be formed governments not to treat Maoists as law and order problem. The committee also asked the Maoists to shun violence and join the mainstream to solve public issues.
The members alleged that the CPI’s alliance with the Congress proved costly for them. “We are reviewing polls results and take up corrective steps. A resolution has been passed to lift ban on Maoists. The bullet for bullet theory has created a war like environment at some places,” CPI state secretary K. Narayana said.
“The Congress votes were not transferred to the CPI, hence we suffered a setback. All parties used money and liquor to lure voters including the CPM. My allegations against the CPM are true, but I cannot prove such underhand dealings. However, I have decided to withdraw my comments against CPM to ensure continuation of Left unity,” he added.
