When did cartoons become criminals?

Dan LuVisi, turned some of the famous cartoon characters into evil, bloodthirsty criminals

Chennai: Dan LuVisi, a Los Angeles based digital concept artist, turned some of the famous cartoon characters into evil, bloodthirsty criminals.

According to Bored Panda, the images he has created are part of a series titled ‘Popped Culture,’ and will be featured in a book that Dan is writing with his friend Alex Konstad after they started a Kickstarter campaign.

In his statement about the project, Dan says, “I was inspired by my childhood nostalgia — growing up on Disney and Nickelodeon cartoons, my intentions were to combine that love with the dark underbelly of Hollywood and how it corrupts some of its actors and actresses.”

Dan’s designs depict cartoon characters in some of most horrifying scenes from Hollywood films like, Homer Simpson is characterised as a gun toting, blood drenched bad cop from the scenes of Die Hard; while Donald Duck is a creature from outer space like the one in the movie Alien.

“I know, the characters I am painting are gross, scary and dark. But I am not a crazy person,” LuVisi writes on his blog in defense of his work. “I have two lovely cats (okay, may be semi-crazy), and I like to think I’m an okay guy.”
