DMK into its usual blame game: Pon Radhakrishnan

BJP leader also Condemned the DMK for attacking media persons

Chennai: State BJP president and MP Radhakrishnan took potshots at DMK saying the party was in the habit of playing blame game whenever it miserably lost in the elections.

Pointing out that the Dravidian party’s track record showed that its leadership invariably found a reason for the party’s poll debacle Mr Radhakrishnan said in line with its “habit” it has ended up blaming the media for its miserable fiasco in the just concluded Lok Sabha elections.

“Perhaps the DMK may blame the media again for its probable defeat in the 2016 assembly elections,” he jocularly said when press persons sought for his reaction on the DMK fixing the onus on the media for the party’s poll defeat.

Condemning the DMK for attacking media persons outside DMK treasurer M. K. Stalin’s house on Sunday he said, “attacking the media is condemnable. Kalaignar Karunanidhi is known for having respect for the press freedom. Those having regard for the media will not accept this (attack).”

A section of DMK cadres protesting against the media coverage on the proceedings in the party allegedly assaulted some media persons injuring three persons and 11 DMK workers were arrested in this connection. On whether PMK leader Dr Anbumani Ramadoss, who was elected from Dharmapuri, would be given berth in the Union cabinet, Mr Radhakrishnan replied that it was for the PM designate Modi to take the call.

The BJP leader later left for Delhi to call on party and RSS leadership. He is understood to have have shared his assessment of the party’s performance in TN with top leadership. All the newly elected MPs of the party would meet in New Delhi on Tuesday.

“Only Modi and Rajnath Singh are holding discussions on the issue of government formation and other people are just meeting and greeting each other on the election victory,” a senior leader said.
