Jeena Riju, who co-starred with Manju Warrier in How Old Are You, wants roles that'll touch the audience's heart and linger on for a while.
Kochi: Her words were true reflections of her expectations about the movie How Old Are you. “I believe Manju chechi’s comeback movie will reap success. It is a nice movie dealing with an affirmative subject,” says Jeena Riju.
She has essayed a small-yet-significant role in the movie and sounds excited while narrating her combination sequences with Manju Warrier. “She is such a down-to-earth person. I consider myself lucky for having been her co-star. I was very comfortable acting with her. Like a beginner, she too was nervous before every shoot. But the way she dives into the soul of the character in front of the camera is truly admirable. While observing her, the characters in her previous movies such as Aaram Thampuran flashed in my mind,” says Jeena.Born in Pathanamthitta, Jeena commenced her acting spree with Fahad-starrer Red Wine, and went on to star in Memories, Samaaya, Balyakala Sakhi, Krishneksha, Apothecary and How Old Are You. “I came into films without any prior experience in acting. But I always had a secret desire to act in movies. Although Red Wine was my first movie, I got noticed with the movie Pilots,” she adds.
After Pilots, she appeared in Memories, which performed well in the box office. Jeena says she never insists on full-length characters. “I will be happy if the character remains in the hearts of viewers. I hope they will accept my roles in How Old Are You and Apothecary.” In Apothecary, she will appear as a Public Relations Officer. She claims the role has a lot of potential.
Jeena is blessed to have a family who backs her by providing ample support to excel in her career. “If I am here today, it is because of my husband who is very supportive,” she opines. “After coming into films, I have started modelling too. It is all because of his encouragement,” says Jeena, who has some offers in pipeline.
For now, all she wants is to get a ticket to her latest movie! “I cannot wait to see the movie,” she says, scurrying to theatre to watch the first show of Manju Warrier-starrer How Old Are You that released yesterday.
