Mumbai: Proud of his wife Hema Malini’s achievements, Dharmendra could not stop gushing. “Sacchai ki jeet toh honi hi thi… Mein sabhi Mathura-vasiyon ka shukr gujar hun. Hema ki jeet unki jeet hai. (Truth had to win… I am grateful to all Mathura residents. Hema has earned her victory),” he said.
He added, “I was very sure that she would win from Mathura... I know that Hema will fulfil all her promises and will try her best to bring about maximum improvement in the state. She can multitask and she works with honesty. I too shall visit my Mathura soon.”
The veteran Bollywood actor also said that he is touched by how BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi sought his mother’s blessings. “It was an emotional moment. I could read the gestures that Mr Modi’s mother was making…She was advising him to do something good for our motherland.”
The victorious candidate Hema Malini said, “There is no doubt that there is a ‘Modi wave’ in the country. People of India are looking forward to changes that they have not got since Independence. The right to proper living, food, employment etc. are the basic needs. I have won by a margin of 3.38 per cent. This is because of the love of the people of Mathura.”
She also added, “The win was possible only because all BJP leaders worked rigorously under the guidance of Mr Modi. I will definitely fulfil my promises.”
