Kempegowda International Airport toll hike: Notice to Centre, NHAI

A petitioner seeks directions to disclose agreement between toll company NHAI and Centre

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday ordered the issue of emergent notices to central government represented by Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and Navayuga Devanahalli Tollway Pvt Ltd. The notices have been issued following a PIL filed by advocate N. P. Amrutesh against the steep hike in toll near the Kempegowda International Airport.

The petitioner had sought directions to disclose the agreement between the Navayuga Devanahalli Tollway Pvt Ltd and NHAI and the Centre. It was further argued that it was the duty of the governments to provide road facilities, after collecting life time and road taxes. He further alleged that Navayuga Devanahalli Tollway Pvt Ltd had indulged in daylight robbery by blocking other alternative roads.
