A woman of many hats: Anjali

Doing responsible roles better than playing young carefree characters, says Anjali

Kochi: Anjali is now learning to master the art of balancing her time between two responsibilities — motherhood and acting.

“In fact, my good times started with the birth of our daughter Aavani. She is two years old now and I take her to the sets so that I can be around when she needs me. She gets along very well with people there and is very understanding,” says the proud mother.

Anjali’s kitty is full. Her films keep her busy. Her movies include Munnariyippu, Koothara, Nellikka, 100 degree Celsius, Seconds, Third World Boys and more. In a very short span of time, she was able to work with some of the popular actors in M’Town.

“In Nellikka, I play a personal assistant to Atul Kulkarni. Working with him is like one of the greatest moments of my career. Koothara also gave me some special memories. I play a teacher to Sunny Wayne, Tovino and Bharath, which is also a very interesting role.”

Her other film is husband Aneesh Upasana’s next venture Seconds, with Jayasurya, which is ready for release.

“Aneesh has been working in the industry for quite some time now. He is always there to guide me while signing a film. He is an amazing director and working with him was a great experience. He is a photographer too and he is always there to update my portfolio,” smiles Anjali.

Anjali, who has made her presence felt in Kollywood, says that she is not interested in skin show and glamour.

She says, “In fact, I love doing character roles. Getting typecast is a risk, but I am not afraid of it. I believe I should focus on doing responsible roles rather than playing young carefree characters.”
