Chief Minister talk premature, says Dr J. Geetha Reddy

MLA, dismisses talk of her becoming the Telangana Chief Minister as premature

Hyderabad: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s recent announcement that he would like to see a woman become the Chief Minister of Telangana, has set tongues wagging about the possibility of sitting Zaheerabad MLA from the Congress, Dr J. Geetha Reddy, gaining an edge over others in the Chief Ministerial race and becoming a front-runner for the post.
The MLA, however, dismisses talk of her becoming the Telangana Chief Minister as premature and a decision best left to the high command.

On Rahul Gandhi's announcement...
As a woman, I welcome what Mr Gandhi said. This is very good news, irrespective of who is chosen for the task. The Congress believes in treating women on par with their male counterparts. I would like to see more women become CMs of their respective states.

On a woman spearheading a new state..
This will certainly go down in history and not just the people of Telangana, but the country will never forget such an event.

On TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s promise of a Dalit CM...
It is quite typical of the TRS chief to say a lot and never keep his word. Mr Gandhi keeps his promises and will certainly deliver on this, just as Sonia Gandhi delivered on her promise of giving Telangana state.

On the likelihood of her sitting on the CM’s throne next month...
It would be immature to jump the gun. There are able women candidates for the post. The high command will take this decision.
