Telengana Congress list finalised, to be released on April 4

Telangana list will be released on April 4 and 5 and the Seemandhra list on April 6 and 7

Hyderabad: Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday finalised the list of candidates for Telangana for the Assembly as well as Lok Sabha segments. The party has also formalised its seat adjustments with the CPI in Telangana by offering the Khammam Lok Sabha and 10 Assembly seats. However, details of the list will not be released immediately.

According to AICC general secretary Mr Digvijay Singh,“The Telangana list will be released on April 4 and 5 and the Seemandhra list will be released on April 6 and 7.”

Mr Singh said that the list was finalised, but needed some fine tuning and adjustments before making it public.

“For all practical purpose the selection of candidates for Telangana is over,” he added.

When asked about the alliance with CPI in Telangana, Mr Singh said, “It is also complete, but seat-wise details will be worked out later.”

Congress president Sonia Gandhi will address an election meeting in Hyderabad on April 16.

“We will inform you about the other meetings when they are finalised,” said Mr Singh.

Meanwhile, according to sources, Congress and CPI leaders of Telangana have not come to an agreement on the 10 Assembly seats except for the four sitting seats held by the latter and there is still confusion regarding the six other seats.

Congress had agreed for Kottagudem, Wyra, Bellampalli and Munogodu seats for CPI but as far as the other seats being demanded by CPI, like Devarakonda (ST), Maheswaram, and Husnabad, there is no unanimity as they are held by the Congress.

“We are waiting for the Congress party’s response on the 10+1 agreement, we have not got any official statement on this as yet,” CPI secretary Mr K. Narayana told DC.
