ISI’s fake notes may flood Indian polls

Most of the FICN to the pumped into India during the poll season will be sourced from a printing press set up by the ISI

New Delhi: Pakistan’s intelligence agency Inter Services Intelligence and top operatives of terror outfit Indian Mujahideen operating out of Karachi see the 2014 Lok Sabha polls as a huge opportunity to flood the Indian economy with fake

Indian currency notes. In fact, the ISI plans to use IM and SIMI cadres to pump in a few hundred crores of fake currency into India during the election season.

These facts have come to light during investigations into the recent arrest of key IM terrorists Tehseen Akhtar alias Monu and Zia-ur-Rehman alias Waqas.

According to highly placed intelligence sources, the ISI is of the view that since large scale black money is in circulation during Parli-amentary elections, it is a great opportunity to pump in fake currency into India.

During interrogation, both Tehseen and Waqas claimed that ISI and IM founders, Riyaz and Iqbal Bhatkal operating out of Karachi, have already instructed the IM and SIMI operatives in India take “maximum adv-antage” of the Lok Sabha elections and flood the Indian economy for fake circulation. Sources claimed an alert has been sounded to closely monitor the Indo-Nepal border and Malda region close to the Indo-Bangladesh border as it is one of the main centres for fake currency.

“This is an extremely dangerous trend as fake currency can wreck havoc with a country’s economy. And in any case during elections there is lot of inflow of black money into the country through illegal channels like hawala. There is also a view that since most of the forces will be busy trying to avoid a terror strike, it will be much easier to smuggle in the fake currency.
