Vijayawada: Praising Pawan Kalyan for floating a new party, Union minister and PCC election campaign committee chairman K. Chiranjeevi on Monday said his brother was the right person to enter politics. Complimenting Mr Pawan Kalyan’s decision, Mr Chiranjeevi stressed the need for new blood entering politics.
The Union minister was speaking to the media at the Meet the Press programme organised at the Press Club here, where he admitted that the Congress was facing a tough task ahead.
“It is up to the party leaders to infuse confidence among the cadre at this critical juncture. This should be done by better coordination,” he said.
Regretting the state bifurcation, he said that now that chapter was over, everyone should concentrate on the development of Seemandhra.The Union minister said Seemandhra region would witness rapid progress due to the special packages promised by the UPA government.
“Completion of the Polavaram project would be possible only with the state bifurcation,” he said.
Mr Chiranjeevi criticised D. Purandeswari for switching over to BJP after serving as a Union minister for two terms. Condemning Venkaiah Naidu’s comment against the Congress bus yatra, Mr Chiranjeevi said that the “yatra formula” was first started by the BJP as it was the first party to launch a rath yatra.
Describing the TDP as a “corporate agency”, Mr Chiranjeevi said the party has been inviting every one and this would overburden the bicycle (the TDP’s election symbol).
“The Congress is a common man’s agency and it sails with the common man,” he said.
Referring to N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Mr Chiranjeevi said that, while discharging duties as the CM, he differed with the Centre to become a Samaikyandhra hero.
