Mumbai: Residents of Mumbai can now buy water from an ATM, at an affordable price of Rs 1 per litre. In a first-of-its-kind for Mumbaikars, non-profit group Vandana Foundation has started 'AQUATM', a water vending machine.
‘The ATM can vend up to 1,000 litres per day. The water from AQUATM will be available to consumers at the price of Re 1 per litre,’ stated the Vandana Foundation.
Vandana Foundation and another non-profit group Aquakraft have designed this the water ATM.
The vending machine has been set up at Mankhurd, where water contamination takes place on a high scale. It can be operated through prepaid cards.
