His ‘state’ of mind

Arjun describes his ideal partner as “someone who he can have a conversation with beyond 5 minutes

For Arjun Kapoor, whose upcoming film 2 States with Alia Bhatt is all set for release, not reading the book of the same name by Chetan Bhagat was a conscious choice.

“Those who have read the book will have a set idea of who Krish Malhotra is, so we wanted to try and break that notion,” he says, adding that special care was taken not to depict characters from the north and the south in a caricaturish or cartoonish way.

Talking about Alia, who plays a south Indian girl in the film, Arjun says that it was a blast to work with her.

“She continues to surprise me. We were very in sync with each other and it was exciting to know that there are other actors in my generation who are as excited to be in front of the camera as me,” he says.

Arjun also describes his ideal partner as “someone who he can have a conversation with beyond five minutes.”

So, would he ever date a south Indian girl in real life, just like his father? “Why not,” he quips.

“I think when it comes to that aspect, I am above and beyond thinking of where she will be from. It is just important that she and me have a connect.”
