Movie review Total Siyappa: Loud, no punch

'Total Siyappa' gets a thumbs down from fans
Cast: Ali Zafar, Yami Gautam, Kirron Kher, Sara Khan, Anupam Kher, V M Badola
Direction: E Niwas
Rating: *
'Total Siyappa' has been getting a thumbs down from moviegoers with many complaining of a weak plot.
It also lacks a clear vision from a director like E-Nivas who in the past has made films like ‘Shool’, ‘Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega’ and ‘Dum’.
The whole idea of riding on the animosity between neighbours India and Pakistan lacks the punch.
Aman (Ali Zafar) is a Muslim, a musician. Asha (Yaami Gautam), a Hindu, works in a TV channel.
The story begins with Asha bringing home Ali Zafar but that takes a dramatic twist when mother Kirron Kher finds out that Aman is from Pakistan.
It has a lot of stereotyping on mannerisms of Punjabis, but if all that were funny, one could have even sat through it. The only saving grace is Kirron Kher, who packs a solid performance and holds the film.
The role portrayed by Sarah Khan does lift the film in certain parts. Anupam Kher can easily forget this misadventure as he is put in most unrealistic and embarrassing situations. Ali overacts.
