Wickedleak launches its first Octa-core waterproof Android smartphone

Mumbai: Wickedleak unveiled their new flagship Android smartphone, the Wammy Passion X, on   Monday. Wickedleak claims the phone is the world’s first super hydrophobic phone, which means it is resistant to liquids from both the outsides as well as the inside. WL also added that the smartphone is their first handset based powered by an eight core processor.

The Passion X uses the Aqua Protect Technology, using which; the phone can be submerged for more than 30 minutes under water or any water-based liquid. “It is simply revolutionary and comparatively amazing. Aqua Protect waterproofing solution gets rid of the ugly case which makes most phones bulky. In fact, it doesn’t affect the look of the device at all. Aqua Protect’s nano coating procedure coats all the internal and external components of a device with a water-resistant molecular layer and is completely invisible to the naked eye. The result since Aqua Protect will survive most splashes and quick dips that would instantly destroy most smartphones. We see Aqua Protect becoming the next industry standard soon” said Aditya Mehta, CEO, of Wickedleak Inc. Check out their demo video below.

Moving ahead, the Passion X is powered MediaTek OctaCore Processor MT6592 clocked at 1.7 GHz with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage (expandable up to 32 GB with a microSD card). The display is a large 5-incher OGS with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 dpi (443ppi). The cameras available on the rear and front are 16 MP and 5 MP respectively. Connectivity options are Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 and a micro USB PC interface. The device is powered using a 2500 mAh Li-Polymer battery. WL claims the chassis to be firm and strong owing to the Aluminum Magnesium frame.

The Passion X is a dual-SIM handset with support for mini and micro SIM cards, one each. Presently, the phone is shipped with Google’s Android Jelly Bean v4.2, which can be further updated to version 4.4 KitKat when the company releases its new firmware.

The phone is currently only available online on Wickedleak’s own website for a price of Rs 22,500. Presently, WL seems to take on rivals, who boast of their water-proof handsets, with the Passion X priced well below the Rs 25,000 bracket.
