Mixed reactions to Delhi CM’s agitation

BJP says its an act in haste; TD feels it shows disregard for governance.

Rajahmundry: The dharna of New Delhi Chief Minister Aravind Kejriwal seeking action on police for their alleged inaction pertaining to molestation complaint of a foreign national which received nation-wide attention got mixed response in East Godavari from major political parties.

The act of law minister Somnath Bharati seeking action on foreign nationals for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking and prostitution also received divergent views from the CPI(M), the TD and the BJP.

The issues received public attention on the grounds that if an elected chief minister was forced to opt for this type of agitation, what would be the fate of common man in finding solution to problems.

East Godavari CPI(M) general secretary Dadala Subba Rao felt that the two incidents brought out the need of overall law and order machinery under the purview of local government.

As far as drugs and prostitution issue is concerned, the Indian laws should be applied to foreign nationals also as all are same before the law, he said.

TD general secretary Gorantla Buchhayya Chowdary, while commenting on the issue, said that Delhi being the national capital will have to take care of both national and foreign nationals.

Hence, it is not an easy task to entrust the administration to local government. Kejriwal, by now must have noticed the difference between making promises and in implementing them.

He felt that the two incidents brought out the hollowness and inefficacy of law and order implementing agency under Sushil Kumar Shinde.

Kakinada BJP city president Pydah Bhavana Prasad said that both the Delhi Chief Minister and law minister acted in haste for political mileage. How can both of them being responsible ministers act in this way, the senior BJP leader questioned. He also reminded that the AAP was not given clear mandate.

However writer, educationist and social activist Dr P. Chiranjivini Kumari strongly supported both the Delhi CM and the law minister.

She believes that the both AAP leaders were forced to take such steps as they could not find any other way to express their resentment over the inaction by police.
