Hundreds of state staff leave for Hyderabad

Telugu Desam, Congress cadre too set out in large numbers.

Visakhapatnam: Hundreds of government employees working in various departments left for Hyderabad to take part in the dharna, at Indira Park, on Wednesday, demanding Congress- led UPA government to roll back the decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh to create Telangana.

Buses were arranged by the APNGOs association for the members to reach Hyderabad, by Wednesday morning.

“The government employees from all the Seemandhra districts are going to Hyderabad to register their strong protest against the proposal to divide the state. It is against the interests of the people from both the regions. We wanted to lay a siege besiege the Assembly as the AP Reorganisation Bill was brought in, but have changed the plan due to various reasons. We will not hesitate to launch total strike if the government does not come down and drop the proposal,” said APNGOs district president Eswara Rao.

If the AP Reorganisation Bill is not scrapped, he warmed pf intensifying the agitation. Around 400 government employees from Viziangaram too left the town to Hyderabad to take part in the dharna.

On the other hand, activists of Telugu Desam and Congress, also in large numbers, left the city to participate in the same programme.

Special buses were arranged by Telugu Desam leadership for their activists to reach the capital city.

“It’s our duty and responsibility to protest the unjust decision to divide the state. Based on the clandestine support, extended by YSR Congress, the Congress-led UPA has decided to divide the state for seats and votes. We will stop this at any cost,” said TD urban unit president, Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar.
