Google’s shoppable hangout allows customers to chat and shop simultaneously.

Hyderabad: Till a while ago, many were apprehensive about online shopping. But soon, it has begun gaining ground among urban population and people have started developing a taste for it.

Just when they have started to dive into it, Google has decided to join the melee by launching their “shoppable hangout” in India on Monday, a product of S-Ecommerce.

While many online shopping portals have 24-hour online chat service, the “shop-while-you-video-chat” concept takes it a step further by allowing one to get directly in touch with the makers of the product.

Google’s shoppable hangout allows customers to chat and shop simultaneously. The owners of clothes line can broadcast their collections and help customers choose their products.

On the ‘Google+ Shoppable Hangout On Air’, about 10 people can chat on a multi-person video chat which would be broadcasted live to millions, who can shop, comment and chat simultaneously.

The product hit the Indian online window on January 20, 2014 with Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan unveiling his clothes line HRX on Myntra.com, while int-eracting with his buyers on Google Hangouts.

The shopping section of the hangouts includes ‘classic cool look, earthy but blue look and sport casual look’. The hangout also included models showcasing clothes in different combinations.

Replying to queries on the brand on Google Hangouts, bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan said, “The brand HRX is about pushing to the extreme while motivating and inspiring oneself. The point is to look effortless in whatever you’re wearing. That’s my style.”

The clothesline is styled by Gautham Kalra, a noted fashion designer, who said, “The idea is to choose clothes according to the occasion while we discuss about the detailing of each of it.”

The hangout was first broadcast in New York on October 20 last year with Diane Von Furstenberg, a famous fashion designer.
With the Indian population opening up towards new ideas, this might be the next business idea many would soon throng to.
