Manoj M. Swami wrote a book called "The Godfather" as a first step to learning script-writing.

Manoj M. Swami wanted to learn to write scripts. He had always been a movie buff. He decided to write a book called "The Godfather" as a first step to learning script-writing. And he chose to write on one of the most critically acclaimed movies of all time -'The Godfather'.

An employee of the Survey of India Department working in Thiruvananthapuram, Manoj knew the film was graded the the film was graded the second best of all movies by the American Film Institute. His own knowledge of cinema led him to make a list of Indian movies that were inspired by 'The Godfather'.

“From 'Nayagan' to 'Thalaivaa', quite a few movies were loosely based on the Godfather's story. Even in Kamal Haasan's 'Vishwaroopam', the line the heroine says 'I believe in America' is the first dialogue of 'The Godfather',“ he says.

In addition to the script, he has included other details like the transition from novel to cinema, writer Mario Puzo's take on the film, lesser known details behind the filming and so on.

The book was released at the 18th IFFK by director Dr Biju. Next he hopes to start with a script, without delay.
