Seemandhra MLAs lack unity in Telangana fight

The unity of Telangana MLAs and the bickering Seemandhra MLAs was visible on the floor of the Assembly.

Hyderabad: The unity of Telangana MLAs and the bickering Seemandhra MLAs was visible on the floor of the Assembly. Telangana MLAs were united on regional basis leaving party lines while Seemandhra MLAs opposing state bifurcation were fighting on party lines.

Telangana MLAs expected the Telangana Bill to be tabled in the Assembly on Friday . When it did not reach the Assembly, the Telangana MLAs from the Congress, TD, TRS and the CPI collectively served a privilege notice to the Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar against government chief secretary P.K. Mohanty .

Telangana MLAs said in the notice that the chief secretary has violated the orders of the President of India in sending the Telangana Bill to the Assembly. The Telangana MLAs demanded a discussion on Telangana Bill in one voice.

Seemandhra MLAs, on the other hand, are fighting against state division on party lines with no coordination among them. The Congress, TD and the YSRC are trying to get political advantage by fighting against state division.

The main difference between the Telangana and Seemandhra agitations is the degree of unity . There is no unity even in their demands and it was reflected in the Assembly . Telangana leaders criticise each other but are united when the situation warrants while Seemandhra leaders criticise each other without a thought of coming together.

In Telangana, the public and the leaders share the same sentiment. But in Seemandhra the sentiment is more among the people than political leaders.

In Seemandhra, the people are fighting for a united Andhra Pradesh while political parties and leaders are fighting for political advantage.

Sources say the disunity among the Seemandhra leaders facilitated the Congress high command to go ahead with the state bifurcation.
