UDF plan to discuss Congress poll debacle with allies soon

The UDF will meet to discuss the Congress poll debacle on December 17 or 18.

Thiruvananthapuram: The UDF will meet to discuss the Congress poll debacle on December 17 or 18, UDF convener P. P. Thankachan said here on Tuesday after his meeting with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.

Muslim League and KC (M) have aired their unhappiness over the functioning of the UDF. KC (M) chairman K.M.Mani told reporters after inaugurating the human rights observance day that the defeat faced by the Congress should be an eye-opener for all.

“The party should accept the defeat, correct mistakes and go forward by taking everybody into confidence”, said Mani.

Muslim League leader E. T. Mohammed Basheer was among the first to comment that issues in Congress needed urgent attention. He had said the UDF was a divided house even after Congress president Sonia Gandhi tried to sort out differences between Congress and allies. Oommen Chandy and KPCC chief Ramesh Chennithala were still not on the same page, Basheer had said.
