The dreaded man-eating tiger, which was captured alive on Thursday.

Mysore: The dreaded man-eating tiger, which was captured alive on Thursday, is recouping well at Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens in Mysore.

In an assessment report released on Friday evening Zoo Director B.P. Ravi said the tiger was around 8-9 years old and was starved for food. The preliminary examination conducted by zoo vets reveal that the animal was under stress and appeared dull and weak.

“It was suffering from pain due to piercing of porcupine quills, besides multiple minor injuries. A quill had pierced near the chest region and the injury appears to be of a serious nature. The prognosis is guarded,” Ravi said.

The press release said the animal was fed with fresh beef and it consumed nearly 4 kgs on Friday. The animal will be examined in detail in order to assess the injuries caused and treatment will be initiated accordingly.

Sources said once the tiger recovers completely it are likely to be shifted to Bannerghatta Biological Park.
