Pondy Rangasamy convoy involved in mishap

Puducherry chief minister N. Rangasamy escaped without injuries after his convoy.

Chennai: Puducherry chief minister N. Rangasamy escaped without injuries after his convoy met with a minor accident on Santhome high road in the city on Sunday evening. The chief minister was returning to Pudu­cherry after attending a wedding reception.

His car was making its way towards Puducherry, whi­le an SUV, on its way towards the beach, collided wi­th the pilot vehicle of the CM’s convoy ne­ar the Santhome church aro­und 9.20 pm, sources said.

Both vehicles were damaged in the impact. The chief minister’s car, which came to a halt hitting the bumper of the pilot vehicle, didn’t suffer much damage.

While Rang­asamy escaped without injuries, the driver and gunman in th­e pilot vehicle suffered mi­nor injuries and were ad­m­itted to the government Royapettah hospital. Immediately after the accident, the CM left in another vehicle. The driver of the SUV was identified as Mubarak Ali of Chepauk.

Traffic was disrupted for 30 minutes.
