Andhra Pradesh Chief Whip accuses Chief Minister of volte face on Telangana issue

Andhra Chief Whip says CM had in the past assured to adhere to the T decision.

New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh government Chief Whip G V Ramana Reddy on Friday charged Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy with committing volte face over the bifurcation of the state.

Briefing newspersons here, Ramana Reddy said the chief minister had, in the past, stated that he would adhere to the decision of Congress party and Centre. But, he changed his words and supports United Andhra, he alleged.

Replying to reported apprehensions of Kiran Kumar Reddy that massive projects like Nagarjuna dam cannot be constructed if the state was divided, Ramana Reddy wondered why the Ichampalli project has not been executed so far.

"Despite 60 years have passed, nobody looked into the Ichampalli project, which was conceived during the Nizam rule. It is an old demand," he claimed.
