TGMC Cracks Down On Quacks In Kalwakurty And Amangal, Uncovers Unauthorised Allopathic Practice
Council members Dr G. Srinivas and Dr Imran Ali inspected 12 facilities: Reports
HYDERABAD: The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) said it found several cases of alleged unauthorised practice of modern medicine during surprise inspections in Kalwakurty and Amangal mandals on October 2, and would initiate legal action where applicable.
Council members Dr G. Srinivas and Dr Imran Ali inspected 12 facilities. TGMC alleged that people without the required qualification or authorisation were prescribing or providing allopathic treatment.
The establishments named included K. Swamy Homeo Care & Clinic, Sri Lakshmi Clinic, Life Care Polyclinic, Pranith Clinic, Sri Vijaya Clinic, JJ Health Clinic, Swapna Clinic, Sai Tirumala Diagnostic Centre, Soujanya Nursing Home, Mother Theresa First Aid Centre, Mahalakshmi Hospital and Sri Ram Clinic.
Antibiotics, antifungal medicines, dexamethasone injections, painkillers, steroids and IV fluids were reportedly found or prescribed at some facilities. TGMC also alleged improper biomedical-waste disposal at Life Care Polyclinic.
The council said Ramesh at JJ Health Clinic was allegedly practising under another person’s name, while J.C. Singh, BAMS, at Swapna Clinic was allegedly prescribing under the name of an MBBS doctor. Sai Tirumala Diagnostic Centre was accused of issuing laboratory reports without review by appropriately qualified specialists.
Dr Srinivas said action was being initiated under Section 22 of the TMPR Act and Sections 34 and 54 of the NMC Act, as applicable. “No unauthorised or unqualified person practising Modern Medicine anywhere in the state will be spared,” he said. TGMC said cases involving registered AYUSH practitioners would also be referred to the competent AYUSH authority. Complaints can be made on 9154382828, and complainants’ identities would remain confidential.
