Property Owners Seek Relief in Corridor Plan
Property owners urge reduced road width to limit demolitions and protect livelihoods
Hyderabad: Property owners along the proposed Rajiv Rahadari Elevated Corridor have urged the government to reconsider the scale of road widening and adopt measures that minimise displacement.
A delegation led by Secunderabad Cantonment MLA Sriganesh Narayanan and representatives of the Elevated Corridor Joint Action Committee (JAC) met Hyderabad district collector Priyanka Ala on Wednesday and submitted a representation. They said developing the corridor to 200 feet wide would lead to large‑scale demolition and financial hardship for residents and businesses that have existed for decades.
JAC chairman Telukunta Satish Gupta suggested reducing the width to 150 feet. “Our request is not against development. We are only asking for a solution that improves connectivity while protecting livelihoods and minimising displacement,” he said.
The delegation sought compensation based on prevailing market values, waiver of registration and stamp duty charges for replacement properties, and junction improvements to ease congestion. They also pointed out that a proposed metro corridor along the route could further reduce traffic demand.
MLA Narayanan told the collector that affected residents and business owners were anxious about the impact on their properties and livelihoods. The collector assured the delegation that their concerns would be forwarded to the Chief Minister for consideration.
