TIMS Sanathnagar Inauguration Faces Fourth Delay

Hyderabad:The inauguration of the Telangana institute of medical sciences (Tims) at Sanathnagar appears to have been delayed for the fourth time.
Although a trial run is currently underway, sources said several issues remain unresolved, including the installation of additional equipment, rearrangement of certain building blocks and a shortage of doctors.
However, other officials maintain that the health department is ready and is awaiting the government's decision on an inauguration date based on the Chief Minister’s schedule.
Initially, the inauguration of Tims Sanathnagar was planned for March 19. Following delays, June 2 was considered as a possible launch date, which was further postponed.
According to earlier reports, officials had aimed to complete the remaining works and inaugurate the hospital on Ugadi. Delays in construction and equipment installation, however, pushed back the timeline. Officials had also cited the government’s plan to club multiple project inaugurations and launches during the Telangana Formation Day celebrations as a reason for the postponement. Later, a trial run had begun from 9 am to 11am with outpatient services.
More recent updates indicate that several tasks are still pending, including the appointment of doctors, rearrangement of the administrative block and dharmashala, patient seating arrangements and other operational requirements.
To facilitate the trial run, the health department temporarily deployed around 450 healthcare personnel, including doctors, nurses, technicians, and pharmacists from various government hospitals across the city. These staff members are currently working in shifts between their parent hospitals and Tims Sanathnagar.
Sources said the department has not yet issued permanent appointment orders for doctors and other healthcare personnel. The lack of a dedicated workforce is believed to be one of the key reasons behind the continued delay in the hospital’s inauguration.
