HYDERABAD: Union health and family welfare minister J.P. Nadda, former vice-president M. Venkaiah Naidu, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will attend the silver jubilee closing ceremony of the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute on June 22 in Hyderabad.

Hospital chairman and actor-politician Nandamuri Balakrishna said the grand finale of the institution’s year-long silver jubilee celebrations will be held at a hotel in Hitec City.

Addressing a press conference at the hospital on Wednesday, Balakrishna said the institution, established in 2000, had completed 25 years of service and continued to function in line with the ideals of late N.T. Other dignitaries to attend the ceremony include union civil aviation minister injarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, Union minister of state for health Anupriya Patel, health minister of Telangana and AP Damodar Rajanarasimha Y. Satya Kumar.

Balakrishna said the event would provide an opportunity to reflect on the hospital’s 25-year journey and outline future expansion plans, including the construction of a new north block at the Hyderabad campus and a new cancer hospital at Thullur near Amaravati. He reiterated that the institution would continue to operate on a non-profit basis.

Earlier in the day, Balakrishna celebrated his birthday with children undergoing cancer treatment at the hospital by cutting a cake, distributing toys and gifts, and receiving donations for cancer care and infrastructure development. Contributions included ₹1 lakh from Hyderabad resident Seetharama Raju, ₹1.01 lakh raised by students of Triveni and Krishnaveni schools and ₹10 lakh from Kakarla Raghavendra Rao towards the Amaravati hospital project.
