Manne Krishank Approaches HC Apprehending His Arrest, Court Directs Police to Follow Procedure
He was produced before a court in Secunderabad for judicial remand which granted him bail, police said.
Hyderabad:Gopalpuram police on Tuesday arrested BRS spokesperson Manne Krishank following a complaint lodged by Congress leader Mettu Sai Kumar over levelling of allegations with regard to the business interests linked to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's family members. He was produced before a court in Secunderabad for judicial remand which granted him bail, police said.
Based on a complaint lodged on Monday night, the cybercrime police registered an FIR for intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace, spreading rumours spreading hatred through social media under BNS sections 353(2) and 352 against Krishank. In his complaint filed with DCP, crimes and detective department, S. Chaitanya Kumar, Sai Kumar had urged immediate action against Krishank for levelling false allegations of alleged ownership of properties and pharma companies against the Chief Minister’s daughter.
Police found that Krishank had posted flexies in various places in the twin cities and circulated or publicised false allegations against the Chief Minister and his family. An officer said the police took action after finding that Krishank’s allegations were not backed by supporting material, and circumstances. “If the allegations are false, fabricated, misleading, defamatory, or unsupported by evidence, he has created and circulated false information,” a police officer disclosed.
Krishank had also addressed a press conference at the BRS headquarters on October 3 during which he sought an Enforcement Directorate investigation into alleged business interests, assets and financial transactions involving the CM’s family.
Earlier, the Telangana High Court on Tuesday directed the city police to follow due procedure and guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court while dealing with the apprehension of arrest expressed by Krishank. Justice T. Madhavi Devi, hearing Krishank’s lunch motion writ petition, directed the DCP (Crimes), Hyderabad, to issue notice to him under Section 35(3) of the BNSS, 2023, and follow procedure. The court also directed Krishank to cooperate with the investigation.
Krishank’s counsel T.V. Ramana Rao contended that the FIR was registered without a preliminary inquiry and that police personnel were following and threatening him with arrest. Government pleader for home Mahesh Raje submitted that an FIR had already been registered.
