Telangana IT Sector Gets ₹875 Crore Boost, Focus on Expansion & Connectivity

    The Telangana government has allocated ₹875 crore for the IT Department, aiming to accelerate growth, attract investments, and expand digital infrastructure.

    The State’s IT sector continues to perform strongly, with exports reaching ₹3.13 lakh crore and generating employment for over 9.39 lakh people. Hyderabad has emerged as a major hub, hosting nearly 20% of India’s Global Capability Centres (GCCs), with over 70 new centres established in 2024–25. Global tech giant Google has also set up its Safety Engineering Centre in the city.

    To promote balanced growth, the government is implementing the GRID (Growth in Dispersion) policy to expand IT development beyond western parts of Hyderabad.

    On the digital infrastructure front, the T-Fiber network has already connected 8,888 Gram Panchayats across 424 mandals and 4,800 government institutions. The State aims to extend high-speed, secure internet connectivity to 50,000 government institutions by the end of the year.

Telangana Pushes Housing for Poor, ₹7,430 Crore Allocated

The Telangana government has stepped up its housing initiative with a budget allocation of ₹7,430 crore for the Housing Department.

Under the flagship Indiramma Illu, financial assistance of ₹5 lakh is being provided to eligible poor families to construct houses on their own land.

The government has sanctioned 4.5 lakh houses under the programme, ensuring distribution across all Assembly constituencies. Special priority has been given to tribal areas, with an additional 1,000 houses allocated per constituency.

The total cost of the scheme is estimated at ₹22,500 crore, of which ₹5,073.84 crore has already been spent.

Rajiv Yuva Vikasam Scheme aims to provide financial assistance to youth belonging to SC, ST, BC, Minority, and OC categories, enabling them to become economically self-reliant. It will be implemented through respective welfare corporations.

An allocation of ₹6,000 crore has been proposed in the Budget for the rollout of the scheme.

The Telangana government has announced substantial allocations for the welfare of Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), Backward Classes (BCs), and minorities, reinforcing its commitment to social justice and inclusive growth.

For SC welfare, ₹11,784 crore has been earmarked, with focus on education, skill development, and infrastructure such as community halls and Ambedkar Bhavans. The government is also constructing the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Knowledge Tower in Hyderabad.

An allocation of ₹7,937 crore has been proposed for ST welfare, with plans including the establishment of the Sammakka Saralamma Central Tribal University in Mulugu district, promotion of tribal products under the ‘GIRI’ brand, and setting up Adivasi Seva Kendras.

For Backward Classes, who constitute a significant share of the population, ₹12,511 crore has been allocated to support education, skill development, and traditional occupations.

The government has earmarked ₹3,769 crore for minorities welfare, focusing on economic empowerment and employment. Initiatives include distribution of sewing machines to women and skill training programmes for youth.

The Telangana government has announced a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening women and child welfare, with a budget allocation of ₹3,143 crore.

The State is providing free pre-primary education to around 4 lakh children aged 3–6 years through 35,781 Anganwadi centres under the Aadharshila curriculum, along with uniforms and nutritional support.

Under the Bala Bharosa scheme, early screening and treatment are being provided to children up to five years to detect congenital disabilities and developmental delays, helping prevent long-term health issues.

To support persons with disabilities, the government is offering a ₹2 lakh incentive to encourage marriage and financial stability.

As part of nutrition initiatives, 274 mobile Anganwadi centres will be set up under the State Nutrition Mission to cater to urban poor communities.

Additionally, under the Palana scheme, 500 Anganwadi-cum-Crèche Centres will be established to support working women by providing childcare, nutrition, and day-care services. The government has also sanctioned 37 “Pranam” Day Care Centres for senior citizens.

Officials said the initiatives aim to improve early childhood care, women’s empowerment, and social welfare across the State.

Telangana Unveils Major Welfare Push for Employees, Labour; ₹998 Crore Allocated

The Telangana government has announced a series of welfare measures for employees, pensioners, and labourers, with an allocation of ₹998 crore for the Labour Welfare Department.

A key highlight is the rollout of the Employees Health Scheme (EHS), offering cashless treatment for 1,998 diseases across government and 421 empanelled private hospitals. The scheme, to be implemented through the Rajiv Aarogyasri Trust, will benefit around 23.51 lakh employees, pensioners, and their dependent family members with digital health cards.

In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the government has also introduced a comprehensive accident insurance scheme, providing ₹1.2 crore coverage in case of accidental death, ₹10 lakh term life insurance up to the age of 60, and an additional ₹2 crore coverage in case of air accidents. This will cover 7.57 lakh employees and pensioners.

The government has also sanctioned retirement benefits for Anganwadi staff, offering ₹2 lakh to teachers and ₹1 lakh to helpers, including those opting for voluntary retirement at 60 years.

On the labour front, the State is strengthening workforce support through the T-GATE platform, which provides skill development, career guidance, and job linkages. Over 1.03 lakh workers have been registered under the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, with ₹276.78 crore distributed to beneficiaries.

Additionally, the government is expanding overseas job opportunities through the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company Limited, and has launched the CM Overseas Employment Programme to provide training, language skills, and placement support for youth in countries such as the UAE, Germany, Japan, the UK, and Canada.

Officials said the initiatives aim to enhance social security, improve workforce skills, and expand employment opportunities both within India and abroad.

The Telangana government has announced a major push to strengthen public healthcare, with an allocation of ₹13,679 crore for the Medical and Health Department.

Focusing on universal and quality healthcare, the State will introduce a comprehensive public health profiling system, providing digital health cards to all citizens while ensuring strict data confidentiality.

To improve healthcare access, the government has established specialised facilities including Day Care Cancer Centres, Non-Communicable Disease Clinics, Senior Citizen clinics, Palliative Care Centres, and Maitri Clinics for transgender persons across district headquarters.

Infrastructure expansion remains a key focus. The State is taking up construction of 17 new medical colleges, while significantly increasing bed capacity in government hospitals. With new facilities such as TIMS hospitals and expansion of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, total tertiary care beds are set to reach 44,029—surpassing national standards.

Additionally, 9 government medical colleges, 16 nursing colleges, and 28 paramedical colleges have been established to strengthen medical education.

The government said it is shifting focus from treatment-based care to preventive healthcare, prioritising maternal and child health, youth health, chronic disease control, and mental healthcare.

Telangana Boosts Higher Education & Skills, ₹26,674 Crore Allocated

The Telangana government has unveiled a comprehensive push to strengthen higher and technical education, with a total allocation of ₹26,674 crore in the Budget.

New institutions have been sanctioned under major universities including Palamuru University, Satavahana University, Telangana University, and Mahatma Gandhi University, along with a new campus of Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies in Mahabubnagar. The number of government degree colleges has risen to 149 with new institutions in several towns.

In technical education, 57 polytechnic colleges will be upgraded into Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs), with 15 new industry-oriented courses to be introduced from 2026–27.

The State has also established the Dr. Manmohan Singh Earth Sciences University to promote research in geosciences and mineral sciences. Significant funding has been earmarked for universities, including ₹1,000 crore for Osmania University and ₹400 crore for Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University.

A major highlight is the launch of the Young India Skill University to address the gap between education and industry requirements. The university will integrate skill institutions like ATCs, polytechnics, and training bodies, while offering industry-aligned courses. Trainees at ATCs will also receive a monthly stipend of ₹2,000.

Additionally, 65 ITIs have already been upgraded into ATCs, with 53 more in the pipeline, taking the total to 118 centres aimed at enhancing employability and supporting industrial growth.

The government said the initiatives are part of its long-term vision to build a skilled workforce and transform Telangana into a global hub for employment-ready talent by 2047.

Telangana Power Sector Gets ₹21,285 Crore Boost, Focus on Reliability and Green Energy

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has proposed an allocation of ₹21,285 crore for the Energy Department, emphasising reliable supply, infrastructure expansion, and a shift towards renewable energy.

The State currently has an installed power capacity of 23,187 MW and recently met a record peak demand of 18,228 MW, with the highest-ever consumption of 341.08 million units recorded on March 13, 2026.

The government highlighted major infrastructure upgrades, including commissioning of three 800 MW units at the Yadadri Thermal Power Station, along with expansion of substations and transmission networks.

Focus is also on clean energy, with plans for 1,500 MWh battery storage systems at Maheshwaram and Choutuppal, and investments worth over ₹2 lakh crore in pumped storage and green energy projects through TGGENCO and REDCO.

To improve public services, initiatives like 24x7 helpline (1912), electrical ambulances, and doorstep grievance redressal under Praja Bata–Polam Bata are being implemented.

The government also underlined its welfare focus, noting that over 53 lakh families benefit from the Gruha Jyothi scheme, alongside continued support for farmers and free power to key sectors.
