HYDERABAD: Banjara Hills police booked cases against Amberpet Shankar and others for allegedly threatening and confining a builder following a complaint.

According to police, complainant G. Anjaneyulu, a builder from Gajula Ramaram, stated that Shankar and his henchmen, acting at the behest of developer Kakarla Sambasiva Rao, confined and threatened him to settle financial disputes.

Anjaneyulu and Sambasiva Rao had jointly constructed two apartment complexes — SLN Arcade and SLN Heights — on 600 yards each. Disputes arose over the developer’s share of flats. Matters escalated when Sambasiva Rao sold one apartment at a higher price without informing Anjaneyulu, police said.

Sambasiva Rao allegedly warned Anjaneyulu of “problems” if the issue was not settled and informed Shankar. On May 24, three men came to Anjaneyulu’s house, threatened him, and forced him to Shankar’s office in Kamalapuri Colony on May 27 around 3.30 pm.

There, Sambasiva Rao, along with Ravi, Sudhakar, Vinod, Raja Ramesh and Madhan Satish, allegedly misbehaved, locked Anjaneyulu in a room, and assaulted him. They threatened that if he did not vacate the flats immediately, he would “wake up dead with his wife” and forced him to sign agreements. Anjaneyulu managed to stall them and left the office, police said.

Based on his complaint, cases were registered under crime number 504 for threatening, illegal confinement, breach of trust and criminal intimidation under sections 127(2), 115(2), 351(2), read with 3(5) of the BNS Act against Sambasiva Rao, Ravi, Sudhakar, Vinod, Raja Ramesh, E. Madhan Satish, Amberpet Shankar and others. sub‑inspector K. Vijay is investigating, SHO S. Suhasan said.
