The ACB also found that staff were allegedly collecting excess amounts from the public through agents for providing official services: Reports
KARIMNAGAR: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials of the Karimnagar range conducted a surprise check at the Transport department’s unit office in Korutla, Jagtial district, on Tuesday and found several irregularities, officials said.
The ACB officials verified office records, financial transactions, challans, pending applications and the overall functioning of the office.
During the check, officials found that transport department constable N. Girish Kumar was conducting driving tests and checking vehicle registrations in the absence of the Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI).
The ACB also found that staff were allegedly collecting excess amounts from the public through agents for providing official services. The agents had unrestricted access to the office and were dealing with the RTA staff concerned on applications submitted by members of the public until the work was completed, officials said.
The officials found that records and registers were not being properly maintained and that there was inadequate supervision of subordinates in relation to their work and assigned duties.
The ACB also found that the driving test area did not meet Transport department standards and that there were no signboards on the driving track.
