3.82 Lakh Households in Telangana Completed Census Self-enumeration
Medchal district recorded the highest number of registrations at 44,000, followed by Hyderabad with 45,000 and Rangareddy with 38,000.
Hyderabad: Nearly 3.82 lakh households/families completed self-enumeration for Census 2027 in Telangana, accounting for 3 per cent of the estimated 1.3 crore households before the online registration deadline ended on Sunday.
The figures revealed low public participation in the self-enumeration process for the Census. The online self-enumeration exercise was conducted in the state from April 26 to May 10. Official sources said that despite expectations that at least 10 per cent of households would participate in the process, only 3.82 lakh families participated.
Telangana’s estimated population is more than 3.6 crore, with around 1.3 crore families. Officials were surprised over the poor response from Hyderabad’s urban regions, particularly Rangareddy and Medchal districts, where a large section of the state’s IT employees reside and work.
Medchal district recorded the highest number of registrations at 44,000, followed by Hyderabad with 45,000 and Rangareddy with 38,000. Khammam reported 24,000 registrations while Karimnagar recorded 18,000.
At the lower end, Mulugu recorded only 1,556 registrations. Other districts reporting poor participation included Vikarabad with 4,800 registrations, Medak with 4,000, Nagarkurnool with 4,000 and Narayanpet with 4,000. Officials said the voluntary nature of the self-enumeration process may have led many residents to treat it in a casual manner.
