Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday called on Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Lok Bhavan and invited him to attend the programme being organised with students on June 12 to mark the reopening of schools after the summer vacation. The Chief Minister informed the Governor that the government would administer a collective pledge to students urging them to stay away from tobacco, alcohol and narcotic substances.

Governor Shukla had earlier suggested to the Chief Minister that students should be administered an anti-drug pledge to create awareness against substance abuse.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister’s meeting with the Governor triggered political speculation over the possibility of an imminent expansion of the Cabinet. Revanth Reddy dismissed the speculation and said in an informal interaction with mediapersons that there were no immediate plans for Cabinet expansion.

The Congress government is set to complete half of its term on June 7. The Chief Minister is yet to constitute the full Council of Ministers. The State Cabinet can have a maximum strength of 18 ministers, including the Chief Minister, but has 16, leaving two vacancies.
