Odisha Government Agrees To Procure Paddy From Telugu Farmers
Odisha has agreed to procure paddy from Telugu farmers, offering relief to around 50,000 farmers who had faced difficulties selling their produce.
Rajamahendravaram Lok Sabha member D. Purandeswari said the Odisha government had agreed to procure paddy from Telugu farmers in Odisha, providing relief to around 50,000 farmers who had been awaiting a resolution to the issue.
She said farmers from Pedapudi mandal had brought their difficulties to the notice of Anaparthi MLA Nallamilli Ramakrishna Reddy after the Odisha government refused to procure the paddy they had cultivated there. The MLA subsequently brought the issue to her attention, she said.
Purandeswari said she spoke to the concerned Odisha ministers over the phone and urged them to take steps to procure the paddy from the Telugu farmers. Responding to her appeal, the Odisha government agreed to procure the produce, she said.
She said farmers deserved fair returns for their hard work irrespective of the State in which they cultivated their crops and that she would continue to raise their issues on appropriate platforms.
Purandeswari thanked Odisha Governor Kambhampati Haribabu, Odisha R&B Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Civil Supplies Minister Krishna Chandra Patra and Odisha Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo for their cooperation in resolving the issue.
