Andhra Pradesh: AKPL Sets New Record With 195,128 MT Iron Ore Import

NELLORE: Adani Krishnapatnam Port Limited (AKPL) has set a new record by handling its highest-ever iron ore import parcel of 195,128 MT, after safely berthing and discharging the Capesize vessel MV Mineral Deutschland on August 27.
The latest handling surpassed the previous record of 195,014 MT, set by MV Mineral Hellas on November 23, 2024.
The 300-metre-long vessel, with a draft of 17.70 metres, is among the ultra-large vessels that can be accommodated by only a select number of Indian ports. AKPL currently operates five berths capable of handling such large vessels, the highest number at any Indian port.
AKPL CEO Jagdish Patel said the milestone reflected the port’s efforts to upgrade its infrastructure and enhance its capacity to handle larger vessels efficiently, while ensuring faster turnaround and operational performance.
He said the achievement further strengthened AKPL’s position as a deep-draft port in India, with the capability to handle large parcel cargoes with high standards of safety, reliability and efficiency.
