JNTUA To Shift To Electric Cooking In Hostels
JNTUA Engineering College has signed an MoU to introduce electric cooking in hostels, reducing LPG use, pollution and carbon emissions.
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Anantapur (JNTUA) Engineering College has taken steps to introduce electric cooking in its hostels by reducing dependence on LPG.
An MoU was signed on Monday between JNTUA Anantapur and the Andhra Pradesh State Energy Conservation Mission for the supply, installation and use of electrical cooking appliances in the hostels.
Senior IAS official K. Nagalakshmi and JNTUA registrar Prof. B. Durga Prasad exchanged the MoU at a programme on the JNTUA campus.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. H. Sudarshan Rao said the large volume of meals prepared daily for boys’ and girls’ hostels prompted the decision to adopt electric cooking as an alternative to LPG. He said the move would reduce smoke, pollution and excessive heat in kitchens while improving energy efficiency and conserving energy.
Registrar Prof. B. Durga Prasad said the initiative would help reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable cooking practices. Transco DEE K. Sudhakar Reddy, hostel officer-in-charge K. Jithendra Goud and others participated.
