Andhra Pradesh: Tribals Appeal To Pawan For Drinking Water

VISAKHAPATNAM: Tribal families of Kondu village in Arla panchayat, Rolugunta mandal, have appealed to Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan to provide them with fresh drinking water, as they currently depend on spring water located two kilometres away.
About 50 families live atop the hill in the PVTG Kondu tribal settlement. Villagers said borewells dug earlier had dried up due to erratic rainfall and heat, leaving the tanks without water. Despite health risks, residents are forced to consume spring water. They also highlighted the absence of road connectivity, Anganwadi centres and ASHA workers, demanding that minimum infrastructure be provided.
Villagers, including Pangi Narendra, Pangi Ramu, Gemila Eswari, and Pangi Bujji, raised their concerns, stressing that a fresh water supply was their most urgent need. On August 19, a baby girl, Pangi Eswari, died of illness in the village. Locals recalled that several mothers and infants had earlier died due to premature deliveries.
