TIRUPATI: The Telugu Desam has appointed Mannem Srinivasa Prasad, popularly known as J.B. Srinivas, as the party's Tirupati Assembly constituency in-charge, replacing former MLA M. Sugunamma after nearly a decade.
The party finalised his appointment after consultations with senior and local leaders. Srinivas has been associated with the TD since 2012 and has actively participated in organisational activities and party programmes in Tirupati.

Srinivas has also been critical of the YSRC on various constituency issues. His appointment comes as the TD seeks to strengthen its organisation in Tirupati.
Party sources said district in-charge minister Anagani Satya Prasad, Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh chairman A. Ravi Naidu and other senior leaders supported Srinivas's candidature. Chief Minister and TD national president N. Chandrababu Naidu reportedly held consultations with senior leaders, including Tirupati parliamentary district president Panabaka Lakshmi, before finalising the appointment.
Thanking the party leadership, Srinivas said he would work to strengthen the TD in Tirupati. He said his priorities would include the welfare of backward and economically weaker sections, strengthening the party organisation and improving coordination among coalition leaders and workers. He added that he would work with NDA partners to take the coalition government's programmes to the people.
