Cabinet Approves Rs 3,706 Cr HCL-Foxconn Chip Plant in UP

The Union Cabinet has approved a Rs 3,706 crore semiconductor plant in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, under a joint venture between HCL (60%) and Foxconn (40%). Announced by IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the facility will produce 36 million display driver chips monthly and process 20,000 wafers, supporting India’s semiconductor mission. Located near the upcoming Noida airport, the project aims to reduce import dependence, boost domestic chip supply, and generate nearly 3,800 jobs.
