The National Commission for Women on Tuesday condemned the derogatory remarks allegedly made by Madhya Pradesh minister Vijay Shah against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, who was part of the Operation Sindoor briefing team. Without naming Shah, NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar called the remarks unacceptable and insulting to women serving the nation, stressing that women like Qureshi are a source of national pride. The Congress had circulated a video of Shah’s controversial comment, prompting backlash, to which he later expressed willingness to apologise.
