Hemanth Menon is back in a lean avatar

Everyone remembers Hemanth Menon as the guy who played some very loveable characters on screen. Hemanth who is most known for his character ‘Sasi’ from Chattakari has geared up to hit the big screen after a short sabbatical. But this time he is literally unrecognisable. With all that baby fat gone, his new look is not only drool worthy but quite an applaudable effort from his side.  “It’s true that in the initial 3-4 years of my career I was only playing ‘chocolate boy’ paavam characters. I was also putting on weight and becoming quite chubby. So I decided to take a year off to get my physique on track. I worked out a lot, shed over 15 kg and transformed completely. I knew if I didn’t come out of the ‘chocolate boy’ look and roles, it will not work out for me,” he says.

Hemanth will be next seen in Khandaram, playing the lead role. “My previous project was a cameo in Pokkiri Simon. One of the previous movies in which I had played a lead role was Actually. Khandharam is a suspense thriller. It revolves around the lives of a young couple who are on a honeymoon.” He throws a little insight into the movie story and says, “You know how some of our state borders are not safe at times.”  A lot of robbery happens in these regions. Plenty of cases have been reported on how families were robbed after confusing them by creating certain situations. Khandharam points towards some of these incidents. I play a character that has two extremely different shades,” explains Hemanth, who will be sharing the screen with Kannada actress Jeevika, who was last seen in Rajeev Pillai’s Vettah.

“I am currently committed to some good projects with some good characters. Apart from Khandharam, I will also be playing one of the leads in Charminar, penned by Ajith C. Lokesh. It will also see Aswin Kumar in the lead. This again is a suspense thriller. There are plenty of other projects in the pipeline. I cannot divulge the details as of now. Right now my focus is on making a comeback and to do some really good characters,” says Hemanth.
