Former India captain, Dhoni, who has been a vital cog in the Kohli-led Indian unit was chirpy as he was seen encouraging and lauding the part-time off-spinner, who was playing on his homeground.

While New Zealand had lost three early wickets – Martin Guptill, Kane Williamson and Colin Munro, Mumbai ODI’s heroes Ross Taylor and Tom Latham were once again looking to rescue their team after the early strikes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah.
While Kohli did not use Jadhav in the first ODI on Sunday, the slinging tweaker conceded just thirty one in his eight overs as India tightened the screws on the Kiwi side.

As Jadhav put New Zealand under pressure, stump mic caught Dhoni, saying, “Bahut badhiya, Kedu (Very well done, Kedar)” before adding, “Yours, yeh ball accha hai iske liye. Beech beech main. Har teesra ball yeh daal saktaa hai (It is yours. At some point, this delivery is good against him (Tom Latham). You can bowl this every third ball).”

As Taylor batted, Dhoni told Kedar, “Yaha se karne de jo karna hai (Let him do whatever he wants to from here)”
As Taylor swept one, Dhoni was heard saying, “Ek hi hai (Only a run)” to a fielder, who rushed in from the deep.

Then as Latham tried to find some gap through the off-side, Dhoni lauded Dinesh Karthik, who was fielding in the 30-yeard circle, scooped onto the ball and did not allow a single.
“Bahut badhiya, DK (Well done, DK).”

As Kedar continued to disallow New Zealand to score freely, Dhoni said, “Bahut badhiya, thik hai daalta reh (Well done, keep bowling),” before adding a gem, “Ek baar karenge phir dimaag main ghusta hai (If you bowl (like this) once, it plays on batsman’s mind).” Dhoni continued his chirp and encouragement, “Badhiya, dheere hi daalna (Well done, keep bowling slow).”
Dhoni then asked Kohli whether he can reset the field as it was a couple of deliveries back.
“Cheeku, ek ball aur rakhegaa, (Cheeku, can you please keep it for a delivery more),” as Kohli is head asking, “Kidhar (Where?)” as Dhoni said, “Ek ball jo pehle rakhaa tha mein catch ke liye (A delivery ago as I put it for the catch).”
