RCB’s Back-To-Back IPL Triumph Sparks Celebrations Across Hyderabad
Following the team’s maiden IPL title win last year, fans were confident that RCB would retain the crown this season
Hyderabad: Celebrations erupted across Hyderabad after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched their second consecutive IPL title on Sunday after bowlers exploited a slow pitch to perfection, restricting a lethargic Gujarat Titans to a sub-par 155 for eight in the final in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Fans in residential colonies celebrated by bursting crackers, while many gathered at restaurants, cafes and community venues to watch live screenings of the final match.
At Hussainsagar, one of Hyderabad’s major gathering spots for cricket enthusiasts, large crowds assembled to celebrate RCB’s triumph. Several supporters turned emotional as the team finally lifted the trophy once again.
According to fans, RCB had long been subjected to trolling for not winning the IPL despite consistently fielding competitive teams. “RCB winning back-to-back titles after waiting 18 years for their maiden trophy has given me immense happiness. Every season, the team came close and even reached the finals several times, but could not win the trophy,” said Sindhu.
Following the team’s maiden IPL title win last year, fans were confident that RCB would retain the crown this season. “I was confident from the start of the playoffs that RCB would win the title again. It is delightful to see Virat Kohli leading from the front and helping the team lift the cup once more. From the beginning of this year’s IPL, the RCB players performed consistently well,” said M. Manideep, a degree student.
