Mohammed Shami's wife Haisn Jahan visits West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's home

Jahan had earlier appealed to Mamata Banerjee to meet and listen to her side of the story in regards to her allegations against her husband.

Kolkata: Hasin Jahan, who had accused her cricketer husband Mohammed Shami of having extra-marital affairs, visited West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Kalighat home here on Monday.

Jahan was there seeking an appointment to meet the West Bengal CM in person. Jahan had earlier claimed that Shami’s family tried to kill her.

While the Indian pacer has denied all the allegations, following Jahan’s written complaint, a FIR is lodged against Shami and his four family members in Kolkata's Jadavpur police station under several Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections, including section 498A, which amounts to cruelty to a woman by her husband or his relatives. The other charges recorded against Shami are under Section 307 - attempt to murder, Section 323 - punishment for voluntarily causing hurt, Section 376 - rape, Section 506 - criminal intimidation, Section 328 and Section 34.

“I wanted to meet the chief minister (Mamata Banerjee) to tell her about my plight. However, she was not at home. Hence, I left a letter with the officials outside her house seeking an appointment,” Jahan told media after she visited the West Bengal CM’s home on Monday.

“I now ask the cops to arrest Shami and his family immediately,” she added.

Earlier on Sunday, had appealed to Mamata Banerjee to meet and listen to her side of the story in regards to her allegations against her husband.

"Today, I join my hands and request our respectable Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, that Madam, my fights is a fight for truth. I have been tortured, there is no fault of mine; I do not ask for your support, I only appeal that you just keep your eye on my fight for truth, meet me and listen to what I have to say and then judge what needs to be done," she had said before adding, "I want to meet you and share my pain with you. This is all I request of you."
